We are a group of Esher residents who are determined to fight to protect our town’s identity, prevent urban sprawl, stop increased traffic and pollution on our already overstretched roads and to safeguard our environment for future generations.
The green area which surrounds Esher including Sandown Park are strategically important and strongly-performing Greenbelt. We believe that one of the key things that makes Esher special, and prevents us being just another urban sprawl, is our open spaces which deserve to be protected. Should Elmbridge Council start to accept the loss of well-performing Greenbelt, a precedent will have been set and other Greenbelt sites could be at greater risk.
We joined together following our discovery that the Jockey Club proposes to build 318 apartments (4-6 storeys high) and a 150 bed hotel in various positions around Sandown Park.
